Finally a way to repel pesky mosquitoes without having to wear bug spray! Meet the Mosquito Repellent Band! Wear it as a bracelet, anklet, in your hair or a combination thereof.

i am so excited about this new product release!  Libby wants you to know she does not like mosquitos either!

just like every other product I have carried, i tested these mosquito repellent bands myself.  being one who does not enjoy applying sticky, smelly bug spray, i was intrigued by these bands.

the running joke among my family and friends is that i am the bug repellent - meaning that mosquitos and bugs love me so much that when standing beside me, no one else gets bitten because all the bugs come to me and eat me alive! it is so bad; often the other people do not even have bug spray on.  funny - but sadly true!

i have tried the clip on repellents, citronella candles, burning herbs in a fire and have found them to be somewhat effective.  this band is much more effective.

for walking around i wore one on my wrist and also tried it in my hair.  for longer time spent in my mosquito infested yard, i put one on my wrist and one on my ankle.  much to my surprise they work!  i will not say the bands are 100% effective, because i did get bitten a few times.  however, without them i would have been eaten alive.  just last night, i stepped outside (without a band) to check on my dogs; after literally 45 seconds outside i had seven mosquito bites.

i also love that these bands are deet free, safe for kids and pets, and are made with natural essential oils. the only drawback is that they are made from a type of plastic, which we all know is not biodegradable and becoming a massive problem for our environment.  however, the bands are reusable - just put it back in the bag and seal it for next time.  the bands are good for up to 350 hours.

regarding water - the bands are advertised as being waterproof meaning that you can swim, sweat, etc. in them.  to be honest, i cannot attest to whether or not water affects the efficacy of the bands.  i did water plants, wash my dog, and did dishes in one; i did not notice a difference.  however, i did not swim in one.

in essence, here are my thoughts on the bands:
pros:
  • all natural
  • travel ready - just keep it on, no need to pack it or carry bug spray
  • multiple ways to wear it
  • eliminates need for bug spray
  • fun colors - stack them for fun!
  • reusable
  • pet and kiddo friendly
  • no need to reapply anything
  • adjustable size
  • price
cons:
  • made of plastic - but reusable for a while
  • i cannot attest to how it will work for other people - how about giving one a try?

Happy Horsing!
Andrea
