The Mane Monogram is proud to welcome Christina (CJ) Martin as our newest brand ambassador! CJ is a hardworking, talented young equestrian with a heart of gold and aspirations of going pro one day.
She currently shows at H.J. Fox Classics show series (GHJA Sanctioned series), TIP Championships, and is looking forward to Tryon and the Big Cheese next season. We are so happy to have her on our team!
Here are some more things we've learned about CJ:
TMM: What got you interested in riding?
CJ: As a little girl, I was obsessed with horses. I always wanted to ride, but my parents never let me because of how expensive it was and how many other sports I played. I grew up in a school with girls who rode and hearing them talk about it always made me want to ride even more. My mom finally let me take lessons when I was 11 years old and I fell in love! I've stuck with it even since.
TMM: How long have you been riding:
CJ: 6 years
TMM: In what discipline(s) do you participate?
CJ: Hunter/Jumpers, but I only do hunters if I have to. My heart is really in the jumper ring.
TMM: Who is your trainer and out of what farm?
CJ: Samantha Gault at Shadow Run Farm
TMM: Do you own/lease any horses?
CJ: Yes, I own one OTTB, Sport, and I am leasing a second OTTB, Sid, with the intent to purchase.
TMM: Do you have other pets?
CJ: Yes, Doc, a 2 year old lab/shepherd mix, Precious, a 3 month old beagle mix, and Chief, an almost 3 year old bullboxer.
TMM: What is your favorite part about being an equestrian?
CJ: The truly unexplainable bond between you and a 1,200-1,600 lb animal. The craziest thing about that to me is the fact that these horses could have chosen anyone else to be their partner, but they chose me. And they made it obvious they chose me. They work their hearts out for me day in and day out, and they light up when they see me. They forgive me when I make mistakes, and they teach me patience, compassion, and dedication. I know that they would both jump to Pluto for me if they could and love me every step of the way.
